Sorry

I am terribly sorry for the lack of posts lately. I've been so caught up with working and dealing with people I haven't had a chance to post ANYTHING!

Anyways the summers been hectic, did a bit of freelance work for the Toronto Star's Fresh Air Fund, also started shooting private events/parties which has been a lot of fun.

I'm hoping to get a website up by christmas, so if anyone knows anyone who can help me get that started send me an email at alahodynskyjphoto@gmail.com.

happy shooting!!

Electric feel - Opening of the State Theatre Toronto

I have finally come up with a great plan for the next little while. Club photographer! That's right I am now one of those guys handing out cards getting in your face, probably blinding you with a flash while you get drunk and party harder than ever.

Anyways I spent Saturday night at the opening party at State Theatre (SE corner of Bathurst and King in Toronto). David King from http://www.salacioussound.com got me in on the list as a photographer, and I got to meet some people from CUParty.com. Anyways it was an awesome night full of partying, dancing, unreal music and a great atmosphere.

Anyone interested in parties in toronto should look up Vicious on facebook, they are planning some BIG things for this city....starting with Opening Night of AUDIO.VISUAL Saturdays at Club {V} at 88 Yorkville Ave.

PILLOW FIGHT!!!!!!

This past weekend I travelled home because I was sick. As a result I got to rent some equipment since my buddy Adam invited me to go up to Mount St Louis Moonstone (post below) to shred and take some photos of the DownLow comp.

I was doing my usual creeping of Facebook events and noticed that Newmindspace was throwing a pillow fight at Dundas Square, so I grabbed my cameras and made my way downtown to this chaotic afternoon event. As soon as I got there I could hear the crowd screaming and laughing as pillows were being swung.

I managed to get some shots from the event, as well as beaten with pillows and covered in feathers. Overall a great afternoon!

Here's my favourite shot from the day.

Enjoy!

Quicksilver DownLow at MSLM

Snowboarding has been one of my favourite winter sports to participate in. Shredding through powder after a night of heavy snow fall is by far the best feeling ever. Spending the afternoon riding the park, learning new tricks is just as good, although your body may not feel the same way after a few bails.

This season was awful for me. No gear, no riding, except for at DownLow at Mount St. Louis Moonstone. Spent the morning riding with my buddy Adam, then spent the entire afternoon shooting riders in this invitation only competition.

I'm not gonna keep blabbering on and on about this stuff I gotta run off to catch a bus back to Ottawa, so I'll just leave you with some of my favourite shots!

Enjoy!

CIS Nationals - UWO vs Carleton

This was the final game of the night. The battle for who would face UBC in the finals on Sunday. I don't think I have ever been so nervous about something I didn't really care about. basketball not being one of my favourite sports, I couldn't peel my eyes from the court. This meant a lack of photos toward the end.

Anyway back to the game itself. This was one of the closest games I have ever seen in my life. Back and forth, up by 1, 2 or 3 points, then all tied up. It was a never ending cycle. Finally with litterally 1 second left in the game, Carleton took a chance to come from being down by 1 point and win it. And that is exactly what happened. Final score - 66-65 Carleton. Good battle boys and best of luck Sunday against UBC...show them why you were first spot going into this tourney.

On a side note, Bryanna let me borrow her 300 for the first half and it was a fantastic lens and I wish I had one. Thanks for that again!

Till next time.

CIS Nationals - UBC vs U of Calgary

Round 3 - Battle of the West.
The games seemed to get more and more exciting as the day went on. UBC vs Uof C.

Calgary seemed to be a better preforming team, with monstrous players who dunked like they were playing in the NBA, but UBC came out on top.

Thanks to Bryanna, a friend of Chris Roussakis (my photo editor at the Charlatan). She was kind enough to lend me her 70-200vr 2.8 while she used her 300vr 2.8....thanks it really improved my photos from my terrible 70-300 4-5.6.

Here are some photos from the game enjoy.

CIS Nationals - St. FX vs Ottawa U

Round 2. St FX X-Men vs University of Ottawa GeeGees.

Not much to write here. Back and forth not too exciting. Believe GeeGees won.

Cheers,
Andrew

CIS Nationals - Concordia vs Dalhousie

Well it's that time of year again. CIS National Mens Basketball finals. I was privileged enough to get to shoot the semi-finals and what an experience. Though the 7:30 am wake up wasn't pleasent, nor was getting lost with OC Transpo and a $50 cab ride there, but in the end it was totally worth it.

Game 1 tip off between Concordia (Mtl) and Dalhousie (Halifax) started at 12:30. with a belly full of free pizza pizza and chocolate milk, Chris Roussakis, Ben Nelms, Bryanna Bradley and I hit the courts for the semis. Eager to put my new Nikon D300 to the test, I snapped a bunch of shots.

Here are some shots from the first game.

Cheers,
Andrew
